La Flore

Historic note from AAMM :
"28 canon frigate, end of 18th C. This Flore is not conclusively identified. We know that this model comes from Philippe Egalité's collection and was given to the Louvre Museum by the Service Hydrographique in 1921. It seemed that this model represents La Flore "American", but we cannot be sure ..."

Modelist J.Maillière.
I started La Flore in 1975 and finished it in 1984. These nine years are not significant in terms of the difficulty of the model as, at this time (young husband) I couldn't devote all my time to it …
- Frame: ply
- Planking: beech – undoubtedly questionable
- Paint: india ink, which explains the diluted tone, a little pink, from the red which has lightened over time.
- Oramentation: Lefranc gilding.
- The sails are treated with the pulled thread technique for the representation of the panel seams.
- The rigging is robustly different. I was inspired by Jean Boudriot's 74 canon vessel, which I had just discovered.
- The launch is masted and displayed separately on its own perspex stand, as if floating.

This model was exhibited at Saint-Malo in 2003. In fact, a picture was used on the advertising poster.
Note: this model was the last created from a plan from the AAMM. After this came the first of the Arsenal models …
