La Catherine

Dundee-rigged Tuna boat, from a plan bought from the “Passage du Havre” in Paris.

This was my first model, built in 1960 under the watchful eye of my father. Numerous observations of the maritime museum model, “La Marie Jeanne” allowed me to complete the plan’s missing detail.

Frame: plywood
Keel: walnut
Planking: mahogany
Mastage: pine
Sails: tent cloth
Winch gear: cogs from old clocks
Paint: Umbrol

Renamed “La Catherine” in honour of a friend at the time.
